New scrubbers for cruise vessel

On Monday the 30th October 2018 the cruise vessel ran dry on the graving dock no. 8 in the yard „Chantier Naval de Marseille“. We gained the project for installing two scrubbers on two diesel generators associated with the replacement of the upper exhaust pipes for the cruise vessel.

Starting the preparatory works on board the vessel on 14th of October – this involved for example erection of scaffold inside the funnel, installation of additional beams for scrubber foundations, dismantling of gratings, pre cutting of deck segments, several welding works – and the preparatory works in the yard on 25th of October, we were ideally geared up to start the dry dock operations on 30th of October around 1500 local time. Following the preparatory works we could directly start to remove deck parts as well as the exhaust pipe segments, which led to lifting the first scrubber DG3 on the 31st of October and lifting the second scrubber DG1 on 1st of November into the funnel.

As all works were done smoothly in 24/7 day and night shifts, and as the colleagues did a great job as we were ahead of our project time frame eventually, we were able to let some workers fly home earlier than planned. We finished all works and got the acceptance within the time frame until the 8th of November.

This is a success of a good project planning, a good performance of our employees before and at the dock time, a good relationship with the colleagues of „Chantier Naval de Marseille“ and a good partnership with our customers.
